Keeping the INS & DOL busy and the taxpayers broke
It’s that time of the year again when the Gulen schools’ H1-B visa applications ramp up. In order to satisfy the H1-B visa application “qualifications,” the Gulen-inspired schools have to – by law – advertise any open American teaching vacancies, that they ultimately want to fill with their hand-picked Turkish immigrant "teachers."
As noted in previous blogs (over the past 4 years), the symbiotic pairing of unqualified Turkish teachers with open American teaching positions is nothing more than a well-practiced ruse. The boys already know (and surely have applied for) the Turkish guys and gals that they are bringing in from Turkey to fill the advertised American jobs.
Of course there will be a bevy of qualified American applicants applying for those teaching positions, but somehow – somewhere – their applications will fall to the wayside and the lesser qualified Turkish guys and gals will be hired in lieu of experienced and credentialed American teachers (especially in the math and science arenas).
As a side note, all of the Horizon schools in Ohio are hiring math and science teachers.
But that’s good news for the state education offices, especially in Ohio where the boys line up to apply for “substitute” teaching licenses, enabling the boys to teach by simply paying a small fee to the Department of Education. And for that matter -- some of them (like Engin Blackstone, aka Karatas) never bother to apply for any type of a teaching or administrative license, saving both the money and hassle of being able to actually provide teaching and administrative qualifications.
There again remains the great disconnect (and bias), because whereas the Turkish H1-B visa holders (alleged teachers) for the most part -- hold nothing other than an undergraduate degree (from any university), the American teachers have to file for licenses that classify them as “highly-qualified” in their respective areas of teaching, requiring them to take graduate classes, participate in student teaching, and be fully certified in their area of expertise.
Okay, so we have repeatedly hammered the other blatant discriminatory practices going on with regard to the Turkish boys running American schools (age, nationality, and gender discrimination issues), but let’s not forget the basic premise on which this myriad of discriminatory issues is built on – the fact that the never-ending free pass into our schools (via the H1-B visa express) not only grants them unlimited access to exploit American teachers and taxpayers, but likewise encourages discriminatory practices by means of lax and apathetic government practices and lack of oversight.
Unemployed American teachers who are interested in obtaining any of the advertised positions (as they should by law be posted on their various websites), should apply and make certain that if they are not hired, contact the Department of Labor.
Better yet, contact us and we will make certain that we pass the information on to the feds – and other authorities that might – maybe – investigate the claims of non-compliance and discrimination.
And one other note, if anyone can find out where they are hiding that stash of qualifed American teacher resumes and applications let us know – we’re wondering if they are using them for kindling -- stoking up the fires in the Poconos.
