Who earns more?

Here's an informative website link that pretty much sums up the discrimination in pay involving Turkish H1-B visa holders and what they earn, versus their American counterparts.

On average, we suspect that a beginning American teacher at one of the Turkish-run schools earns about $30,000 (based on our research and personal experiences) versus the average salary of the H1-B visa holders at $43,200; creating an enormous disparity in wages between the American and H1-B visa holders.

Now factor in the fact that 98% of those H1-B computer and science teachers are males under the age of 40 without full teaching credentials (if they have any at all), and we have really hit the EEOC jackpot (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission).

Okay to be fair, the guys (and some gals) do not get to keep all of their money (hence the jacking up of wages -- see "Tuzuk" for that explanation), but that's really not our problem is it? The funds that are paying their teaching and "administrative" salaries (as inflated as they may be), are still being paid by the American taxpayers through public school funding -- and that is our problem.

And let's not forget it also costs money to bring them over here and to process their visas, and that's not free (someone has to pay for all of that legal advice).

Plus, as part of their "Tuzuk" agreement they get paid trips back to Turkey once a year. Who do you suppose is paying for that little perk? And how many American teachers are given that same opportunity -- a free ticket somewhere (just in case Turkey is not their first choice)?
