Hate it When This Happens
No sooner had I written the post on the Dean of Academics "position" in Columbus, then up popped another interesting job advertisement -- this time for the Cleveland Horizon High School. Now this one really caught my eye because they are looking for an "Administrator" with an English degree and at least 5 years of experience.
The job pays $75,000.00 which is pretty good for a charter school, wouldn't you say. Keep in mind, the average teacher at one of their charter schools makes about $33,000 ( at least the American ones that are not being sponsored for a green cards).
Okay, now I am really perplexed. They threw a monkey wrench in the cog this time. So here's my guess -- they have someone waiting in the wings that speaks really good English and has an English degree, or they are going to sponsor the Turkish guy that they have in their English department, or maybe -- just maybe -- they are actually going to hire an American with both an English degree and the required 5 years experience (although, that's a real stretch).
But I am going to go out on a limb once again and predict that they will just have to import another Turkish person because we all know that there could not possibly be an American teacher/administrator out there to fit the criteria. And what American could possibly settle for a salary of $75,000?
Of course there is one more remote possibility, perhaps they have accepted my challenge to actually hire an American woman over the age of 40!
I'll put another million on black this time -- betting that it will not happen that way...
PS -- Don't forget to apply for the job at the Cleveland Horizon High School -- it pays really well and you might even get a green card as a bonus. And let me know if you get hired -- and I'll have crow pie for lunch.
Update and postscript:
Looks like I will not have to eat crow pie...see, "Bingo" for the update.
