And Moving Away from the Truth
Over the past weekend a crowd gathered in both Saylorsburg, Pennsylvania (Gulen’s compound) and Piscataway, New Jersey to protest Iman Fetullah Gulen and his movement/cult. The majority of the protesters was comprised of Turkish Americans, as well as previously jailed Turkish journalists and a former Turkish Navy Admiral. But for a few speakers, the “Americans” were conspicuously absent – which is troublesome.
It’s troublesome because the American public prefers wearing blinders instead of facing the glaring reality and truth – which is – that Gulen and his cult are extremely dangerous individuals who despite their facade of peace and humanitarianism, are using the American taxpayers as their own personal piggy-bank by means of their 146 United States’ publicly funded charter school scam and related businesses which generates an annual 500 million plus revenue stream to be funneled back to the "movement."
Before the previous protest in Saylorsburg on July 13, 2013, the Gulenists spread their propaganda to the Gulen compound neighbors, instilling an unfounded fear that resulted in the host church yanking its approval at the last minute, leaving the protesters to scramble for a new location. At the 11th hour, a generous Saylorsburg businesswoman allowed the protest to proceed on her property. This time around, and prior to the protest, the Gulenists tried to pay off that woman, offering her twice the amount that the protesters had agreed to pay her for the use of her land. But unlike the Gulenists, she has integrity and refused to be bought off… which brings us back to the Americans.
Sometimes it’s easier to sit back and watch from the front porch, rocking away the most obvious and relevant issues, being an observer instead of a participant. And like a porch swing whose springs eventually rust and its wood rots, collapsing in decay and scattered its occupants, Gulen and his agenda are starting to show some wear and tear – his agenda is finally being picked apart and examined, and people who have been affected by his insidious and illegal activities are fighting back. So while the porch sitters are busy wiping off their dusty asses and picking up the remnants of their “this could never happen here” porch swing, the participants are marching forward to expose Gulen’s fraud, corruption, discriminatory practices, immigration fraud, political graft, intimidation methods, and money laundering schemes.
Sure, the "other" Americans can continue to sit by and let the Turkish-Americans do all the work for them, they can continue to swing past the facts, but it might just be a more prudent approach to get off of that swing and take a proactive role in protecting their tax dollars, children’s education, and country. Sometimes it takes a little more than waving the American flag and reciting the Pledge of Allegiance to look after our rights as American citizens and to preserve the integrity of the constitution.
I have to wonder how it is that Turkish Americans, many of them first and second generation, continue to come from all over the country, spending their time and money to inform the American public about the Gulen movement while the porch rockers tape off their properties and minds with “no trespassing,” signs, basically stating – if we do not see it – we do not have to react – mentality.
It’s real, he’s real, and the threat is real…
